Goth Beach
Goth Beach showcases what the Futurists have imagined for the beach.
Re-Inventing The Beach For The Future and The Other Future.
Ask yourself the question: Where would Freud go to sunbathe? Where would Jacques Lacan, Camus, and Sartre go to throw a frisbee? Harold Shultz re-invented the coffee shop, showing us that we needed a “Fourth Space”. Ray Kroc industrialized the 50’s Burger-joint and created an export product. The Beach is the next space ripe for reimagining and reinvention.
California has its Venice Beach. Whereas, New York has its private beaches and long stretches of beach parks… New York, the capital of corruption and exporter of extortion, may be the perfect place to reshape and reform that space that is the beach as a Dystopian Happy Hour. Key West has its zombie parades and bars. In New York the apocalypse has already happened. Goth Beach is the post apocalyptic nuclear neon tanning new space. Come radiate your mind!
Who We Are?
Society des Artist Ruinous is a Key West Water-based Artist Collective formed by “a group of futurists hoping to supply Key West with an alternative cultural venue. We focus on sharing abilities and processes amongst artists to create elaborate maximalist art installations with a focus on interactivity, narrative and immersive art. Inspired by Meow Wolf in Santa Fe created and exhibit: “The Due Return” (2011) an installation consisting of a 70-foot long ship with two levels, and filled with rooms and objects suggesting details of implied fictional inhabitants’ lives.
